The Department of National Planning and Monitoring is responsible for vetting all development plans for districts and provinces in Papua New Guinea.
Provinces and Districts are required to present their respective draft Provincial and District Development Plans to the Department of National Planning and Monitoring for vetting in order to ensure these plans are aligned to the current Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP IV) 2023-2027 priorities.
On the other hand, the Department of Implementation and Rural Development (DIRD) http://www.dird.gov.pg/ is responsible for the oversight and coordination of Papua New Guinea's policies and programs to support equitable rural development.
