The Department of Foreign Affairs embarked on a major recruitment exercise to fill-in 119 vacant positions within the Department’s structure. The vacant positions were advertised in the two daily newspapers and application was opened for two weeks. A total of 2378 applications were received and out of these applications 88 were successful. From the 88 successful candidates: 59 are external applicants and 29 internal applicants. A total of 31 positions were withdrawn due to unsuitable applicants.
The Department conducted two (2) session of Orientation programmes and Public Service Induction programmes for the 59 successful external candidates who were given Conditional Job Offer. The first batch of 23 support staff were Orientated from 11 -13 April and followed by the Public Service Induction from 29 May to 2nd June 2023. The second batch of 35 Foreign Service Officers were Orientated from 04-06 September followed by the Public Service Induction from 18-22 September 2023.
The 59 new Officers have settled into the respective divisions and branches and are performing on the positions that they selected for and awarded.
